Amid unpredictable expectations, Rajamouli’ Baahubali: The Conclusion has stormed the box office across the globe today to unlock the riddle, “Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?” Let’s take a ride into the world of Mahishmathi whether Baahubal2 meet the expectations or not.
Story: Coming to the story of Baahubali: The Conclusion, it is so simple. Does Kattappa really kill Baahubali? If So, Why Kattappa killed Baahubali? What are the circumstances that drive Kattappa to kill Baahubali? How Shivudu aka Mahendra Baahubali avenge Bhallaladeva? These are the questions which complete the story of the epic sequel, Baahubali 2.
Analysis: Baahubali: The Conclusion is the vision of one man, Rajamouli. To bring his vision to the screen, there are many people before and behind the camera worked day and night for five years. On accomplishing this Herculean task successfully, each and every individual from the light boy, production team to VFX team including cast deserved huge appreciation for dedicating their time and relentless efforts on single man’ vision, Rajamouli’. Especially, Prabhas need to be appreciated for patiently backing up Rajamouli and team.
In Baahubali 2, sets of Sabu Cyril, Visual effects, Senthil Kumar cinematography played a prominent role. All these incredible men successfully brought life to the vision of Rajamouli. Their work is the main highlight of the film besides Rajamouli’ skillful and smart narration.
As per the story, Baahubali: The Conclusion is not new to everyone. What made Baahubali so special are sets and visual effects? Other than these, it’ an ordinary film. The film is mostly narrated on emotional part by nicely blending CG work. In the sequel, no need to special mentioned about the performances of the actors. Each and everyone has truly lived in their respective roles.
The director has spellbound everyone with CG work especially in the first half. The way he unleashed the royal court of mighty Mahismathi Kingdom and its exteriors are fabulous. It’ really first time for the Indian cinema lovers to witness such huge sets. The song between Anushka and Prabhas in a ship called ‘Hamsa Nava’ is amazingly beautiful. The second part of the film dragged a bit and the most important climax war episode is just like a battle between two superheroes in Hollywood films.
The way huge statues and walls are smashing by Mahendra Baahubali and Bhallaladeva reminds the Super Heroes. Rajamouli who might wrap up the climax on emotional note seems willingly evade some logic. He has taken up a bit high cinematic liberty especially in climax episode. He could make climax more interesting and logical if he intended to by clubbing the links which he left untold in the first part, Baahubali: The Beginning. Like Aslam Khan role of Sudeep which assured Kattappa that he will be always there for him to help. If the director used Aslam Khan for helping Mahendra Baahubali and Kattappa team by some super weapons or any military, the climax became more interesting and adds some logical sense to it.
Following, Prabhas’ little army to collide with 30,000 army of Bhallaladeva seems bit unnatural despite the director used the dialogue by Mahendra Baahubali character as ‘our hands are swords, our boiling blood in the veins is enough to end Bhallaladeva’. The director may be decided to end the film on the emotional note by keeping away some logic.
Anyway, his engaging narration and the musical magic of MM Keeravani has made the emotional journey of Baahubali excited. MM Keeravani’ background is wonderful and it elevated emotional and action scenes to the next level.
Positive Points: Sabu Cyril Sets, VFX and Cinematography , MM Keeravani background score , Costumes,
In action, some episodes are amazing like breaking through Mahismathi by Mahendra Baahubali and his men using shields and palm trees. The way they form circles in the air using shields and palm trees to release them into air, which may be the first of the kind in International Cinema. Besides, during fight episode of Pindar's with Kuntala lighting fire to the horns of Oxen and how Prabhas breaks the dam is brilliant.
All the lead actors Prabhas, Anushka, Sathyaraj, Rana Daggubatti, Subbaraj, Nasser are outstanding in their respective roles.
Rajamouli created his magic with good old familiar story and scenes. He elevated all the characters to a top level and given fab some elevation to Prabhas.
Negative Points: It’s a good old familiar story ,
Because of its richness and grandeur, this ordinary story and familiar scenes look extraordinary on the screen with the touch of visual effects.
The second half is dragged a bit.
Climax War episode
Conclusion: Baahubali: The Conclusion is the magic of only one man, Rajamouli. This maverick director’ passion for taking up Telugu Cinema to International level deserves a big salute. His time and the bold decision has inspired many directors to think and aim big. All the cast and crew deserved appreciation for their efforts. "The film is an Old Wine which served in the well embellished Royal dish made of diamonds and gems". An ordinary story is emotionally blended with VFX and huge Sets.
