Six Swachh Survekshan Awards for AP

Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu who is flying to the USA with an agenda of development is going to receive an award of ‘Transformative Chief Minister’ on 8th May for strengthening the India-US partnership at the state level has a proud moment to cherish this week before his US tour.

Six cities of Andhra Pradesh has won Swachh Survekshan Awards, which were instituted by Ministry of Urban Development(MoUD) to foster a healthy competition between cities for improving standards in cleanliness. The Swachh Survekshan Awards survey is conducted by the Quality Council of India.

The parameters which come under the survey of these awards are sweeping and transportation, waste collection, open defecation free status, municipal solid waste processing and disposal etc. The survey ranks 500 Indian Cities on cleanliness and other aspects of urban sanitation to choose the best ones. The cities Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Ongole, Kakinada, Vijayawada and Tadipatri are the selected ones from AP.

Last year, Visakhapatnam which stood in 73rd position merits its position to 5th. The list of winning cities will be announced on 4th May in Delhi during an award ceremony.
